David Smith

David Smith is the Treasurer of the Blue Light Symphony Orchestra and brings to the role over three decades of experience as a Chartered Accountant. With a strong background in finance and governance, David has worked extensively with charities and non-profit organisations, helping to ensure sound financial management, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning.
His professional expertise is matched by a lifelong passion for music and live performance. Having lived in a musical family, David developed an appreciation for all types of music and continues to be an active supporter of culturall events. He believes strongly in the power of music to connect communities, support wellbeing, and bring people together — values that align closely with the BLSO’s mission.
In his role as Treasurer, David is responsible for overseeing the orchestra’s financial health, advising on fundraising and budgeting, and supporting the wider team in delivering sustainable growth. He takes pride in being part of an organisation that celebrates the extraordinary work of emergency service personnel through music and outreach.
